Are you the sun that makes your moons shine?

"As leaders, our greatest task is to be the Sun that, without seeking recognition, illuminates and gives autonomy to our teams so they can shine like Moons in the night."

Francesc, how would you explain the concept of Delegation in an innovative and different way?

I’ll try it with a cosmic comparison! Imagine the night sky, dark except for one bright light guiding your path: the Moon!!!

Throughout history, the Moon has received all kinds of recognition, odes, and poetry. My favorite is the legend by Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, “Ray of Moon.” The Moon transformed werewolves, inspired love between couples, and pulled you out of loneliness and sadness. Songs, tears, joys, verses… all of this has been given to the Moon!

Now, what power would the Moon have without the Sun that lights it every night? The Sun gives the Moon the autonomy and authority to represent it during the night. We don’t see the Sun, but we know it’s there thanks to how it illuminates the Moon.

So, why is it that almost no one recognizes the key role of the Sun in the poetry, songs, or books written about the Moon? Without the Sun, the Moon would just be a rock that perhaps no one would even notice. It would still move the tides with its gravity, sure, but it wouldn’t have the power to inspire feelings or emotions.

That’s delegation.

The ability to give someone the power and autonomy to perform their work excellently without seeking anything in return, while still holding a large part of the responsibility for their success.

As a leader, you have to be like the Sun: allow your team to shine, succeed, receive recognition, odes, and poetry, without seeking your own recognition, but still retaining much of the responsibility for their work. Your satisfaction will come when your team achieves the set goals.

And you? Are you like the Sun, making your Moons shine?
